OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Crews will close 143rd Street under U.S. 69 Highway for 90 days starting next week.
The Kansas Department of Transportation said both directions of 143rd Street will be closed to traffic from 6 a.m. Monday, March 18, through 10 a.m. June 16.
The following detours will be marked:
Eastbound traffic should take Antioch Road then go south to 151st Street.
Westbound traffic should take Metcalf Avenue then go south to 151st Street.
The nearly three-month closure will allow crews to work on the 69 Highway bridge and reconstruct the road.
It’s all part of the ongoing 69 Express Project, a three-year endeavor that will introduce optional toll lanes on U.S. 69 Highway from 103rd to 151st streets in Johnson County. That project should wrap up in 2025.
