Every student in Stoughton who signed up for bus transportation by the school district’s deadline will receive it, including 150 secondary students who initially weren’t included when bus lists were released a couple of weeks ago, the district said Monday.
The Stoughton School Committee plans to formally announce that the district has secured busing for every student who met the June 28 deadline at a virtual meeting Tuesday, the district said in an email to families. School begins Sept. 4.
Budget constraints initially forced the district to take one bus off the road amid an increased demand for transportation, the Globe reported. Stoughton Public Schools had assigned buses for all 771 students in kindergarten through fifth grade who requested rides, but about 16 percent of students seeking bus service to Stoughton High School or O’Donnell Middle School were initially told they wouldn’t be getting it.
