MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will soon send out new EV Hybrid stickers required by a recent legislation, says the DMV.
According to officials, the orange and black stickers will be sent out to current owners of electric and hybrid vehicles as new law requires those to be attached to license plates issued for these types of cars.

The DMV says that in the year of 2023, there were nearly 146,000 electric and hybrid vehicles on Wisconsin roads. A Wisconsin law was passed the same year to provide safety to first responders when handling electric powered vehicles in emergency situations.
Current owners of electric or hybrid vehicles with valid registration are expected to receive their stickers by June. Beginning the summer of 2024, anyone who applies for title and registration for new electric or hybrid vehicles will receive a sticker as well. If purchased ahead of this time, new owners will get their sticker by mail.
According to the DMV, there is no need to contact them for the stickers.
