COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Parts of Interstate 20 will close through the rest of the month as part of the U.S. 1 over I-20 Interchange Improvement Project, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT).
The closures are tentatively as follows:
I-20 East from east of Exit 55 (SC-6 North Lake Drive) to west of Exit 61 (US 378)
May 14: dual inside lanes 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 20: dual outside lanes 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 21: dual outside lanes 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 22: single inside lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 23: single inside lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 24: single inside lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 25: single inside lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 27: single inside lane 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 31: dual outside lanes 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
I-20 eastbound detours
May 15: full detour 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 16: full detour 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 17: full detour 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
May 18: full detour 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Message board and signs will display detour directions.
Drivers using U.S. 1 North toward West Columbia to access West Columbia will not be impacted by the detour route, SCDOT said.
SCDOT encourages the public to use caution and plan for delays.
