The Idaho Transportation Department selected two winners from North Idaho for its student contest to name a snowplow. The names will be featured on plows across the state.
The local winners are The Berminator, submitted by Post Falls Middle School, and Big Snowplowski from Lakeland Middle School.
Most of the names were submitted by eighth-grade classrooms across the state. The 12 winning names were selected by an anonymous vote by ITD employees.
Once the plow names are installed, ITD will coordinate educational visits with the winners to teach the students about snowplows and safe winter driving.
ITD Chief Operations Officer and Chief Deputy Director Dan McElhinney said the contest helped ITD spread the word about winter driving safety.
