Got a frustrating Office problem here. We just got in a new batch of Optiplex s, a model we’ve been using for almost a year now, and Office keeps failing the install. These latest s should be identical to all of the previous s. Does anyone recognize this error? So a co-worker figured this one out, it appears that the Office error is related to.
NET somehow. Microsoft has a repair tool for. NET that got us running again. I’d make sure there aren’t any traces of other Office installations on the system including in the Task Scheduler , and make sure you don’t have any HIPS installed that could be blocking some part of the installation.
I’ve found with some distributors I have to go uninstall the default Office click to run application in programs and features, reboot, then install my copy. I don’t have this issue any more because I always install a fresh image of Windows, even if the new computer came with it, just to get rid of bloatware.
Sean C. So far we’ve done pretty minimal work on them. What jumps out at me is that it references a Of course that assumes whatever file it’s choking on uses the standard Office version numbering.
On the off chance that our Office installers had gotten corrupt, I redownloaded them from the Microsoft Licensing site. No luck. I checked the services page, and Task Scheduler service was already running and was set to automatic. I ripped out Sophos,but the same error came up. Next I tried Safe Mode with no Sophos, but the office installer errors out very quickly with a rather unhelpful “Microsoft Office Professional Plus encountered an error during setup”.
There shouldn’t be anything Office related on here, but who knows. Honestly, I’d be surprised if it had found anything. Dell is usually good about sending clean images, it’s why we jut pull them out of the box and go.
