COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Several officials from the University of South Carolina (USC) and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) gathered Tuesday to celebrate some remarkable athletes.
USC Athletics Director Ray Tanner, USC Women’s Basketball Head Coach Dawn Staley and SCDOT Secretary Justin Powell spoke Tuesday at Colonial Life Arena to unveil 15 new highway signs that will go up around the Palmetto State, according to USC.
These signs are meant to recognize the Gamecocks’ 2024 National Championship, when the Gamecocks triumphed over Iowa in April to deliver the university a perfect season.
The university said the signs will be located at Welcome Centers near the South Carolina border, in both directions in I-85, I-26, I-77, I-95, and eastbound I-20. There will also be signs at I-20′s Exit 58 and Exit 73A, at I-26′s Exit 111B, I-77′s Exit 5 and the Harbison Street Ext. intersection of SC-277.
All signs are expected to be installed by Sep. 30.
