EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The City of Eau Claire announced today that rental e-scooters will soon be available as a transportation option for residents.
A news release from the city shared that beginning Sept. 3, Bird e-scooters will be available to rent in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus area. Additional rental locations will be added later.
Residents interested in renting a scooter will need to download the Bird app and create an account. Rentals will be billed through the app.
The scooters will be tagged with coordinates and must be parked at one of the designated parking locations marked with a “P” on the map in the app. The app provides additional notifications to help make users aware of additional parking locations. Parking in other areas could result in fines.
Pedestrian Zones or “Walk-Your-Wheels” areas of downtown Eau Claire and other business districts are marked with the Walk-Your-Wheels logo on poles. Scooters are not allowed on the sidewalks in these areas. Riding a scooter in one of these areas could result in a fine.
Bird scooters will be monitored and maintained daily and redistributed throughout the city multiple times a day.
