COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced they will implement three separate closures of Interstate 126 Westbound for the Carolina Crossroads project construction work.
The closures are scheduled at Interstate 126 westbound between Elmwood Avenue and Colonial Life Boulevard.
Below are the dates of each closure.
Friday, March 1
Thursday, March 7
Sunday, March 10
Each closure will begin soon after midnight and last about 30 minutes.
However, the exact timing of the closures is subject to change based on construction progress. Officials said backup dates are scheduled in case of poor weather and other unexpected issues.
Officials said the closures will allow SCDOT to safely transport and set new bridge beams in their permanent locations.
Local law enforcement and transportation authorities will be on site for traffic management during the closures.
Routine nighttime lane closures for project construction will also continue to take place throughout this timeframe, officials stated.
