The Boston Celtics didn’t have two of their best players — Jaylen Brown and Derrick White — available for Sunday’s game against the Hornets in Charlotte.
But it didn’t matter.
Jayson Tatum’s season-high 32 points led an impressive Celtics performance in a 114-99 victory. Payton Pritchard also chipped in 28 points as the starting point guard in place of White.
The Celtics have clinched a playoff spot for the 12th consecutive season – the longest active streak in the NBA. The C’s also have reached the 50-win mark for the fifth straight season. The last time they had a streak that long was the first nine seasons of Larry Bird’s career in the 1980s.
