In all, the project is set to improve a 16-mile segment of I-26 that stretches from Exit 85 in Little Mountain to Exit 101 in Irmo.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) on Friday announced that all lanes are open to traffic for the 16 miles of widening on I-26 for the Midlands Connection Project.
The project includes widening of I-26 from Exit 85 to Exit 97 from 4 lanes to 6 lanes and Exit 97 to Exit 101 from 4 lanes to 8 lanes.
Officials say crews remain hard at work to finalize completion of Exit 97 (Broad River Rd) and Exit 91 (Columbia Ave), along with final punch list items.
